Radiofrequency generates deep heat in the tissues to boost circulation, speed up recovery and relieve pain, in a non-invasive and comfortable way. We use a professional BTL® device, a leading medical-technology manufacturer.
Therapeutic uses
- Recovery of muscle and joint injuries
- Muscle knots and chronic pain (neck, lower back)
- Tendinopathies and inflammatory conditions
- Sports and post-operative recovery
Aesthetic uses
Radiofrequency is also used for aesthetic purposes: it promotes skin firmness, helps improve the appearance of sagging and cellulite, and has a draining effect. In every case the aim is to improve the appearance of the area, always after a prior assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Is it the same as INDIBA®?
INDIBA® is a registered brand of radiofrequency devices. At our clinic we apply that same technology (monopolar capacitive-resistive radiofrequency, known as diathermy or tecar therapy) with a BTL® device. The principle and the benefits are the same.
Does it hurt?
No. You only feel a pleasant sensation of warmth.
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on each case; we assess it at your first visit.
Are there any contraindications?
Yes (pregnancy, pacemakers, metal implants in the area, tumoral processes, among others). That is why it is always carried out following a prior assessment by a chartered physiotherapist.
At FisioEscòcia, radiofrequency is applied by Jessica Prats, who has specific training in diathermy. Read about her background on the Team page.
